NOTE: I emailed Charlie Rose at this time (Oct 7, 2006), to alert him for the first time to this social study, essay and art web series I have been conducting since 2005, and to give him the startistics I have compiled on the gender bias of his show themes and guest list. Coincidentally, shortly after that date a new media study on the absence of women in the news media appeared, and Charlie hosted a show with Jane Fonda and Gloria Steinam, who are introducing a new women's radio network to address this gap (see Oct. 23, 2006). Since that time, the ratio of wome guests to men rose from an average of 12-13% to a high of 24%, but, sadly, began to drift down again around mid November. The average since Oct 6 now stands at only 15%, and the overall count average since I began in Jan 2005 at 14%.
